In an effort to accurately record this journey, I have to get real and continue the story...
After feeling like we'd really cleared some huge hurdles in this move process, we were almost immediately tripped up and flat on our faces. The medical clearance process was a NIGHTMARE.
We were told Dandelion #3 and I wouldn't get clearance, then there was hope, then there was no hope, then there were more delays, an anxiety attack or two, many tears on my part, lots of stress, phone calls, more misinformation and more delays...
I will suffice it to say, the process was unpleasant and many of the people involved were uninformed and poor communicators. I am immensely thankful for our pediatrician on the base who WAS well-informed, who did understand the process, communicated well, and who spent extra time helping us through it.
In the end, physically meeting/interviewing with the medical clearance board was not horrible. Getting there...ugh.
When we walked into our board meeting, there were apologies made for all the hassles we endured, but they were quick to say, our clearances wouldn't occur, our info would need to be sent, but they would expedite everything. Then they interviewed us about each child's health history. After the kids were done, they asked the Hubby and kids to leave so they could interview me. After interviewing me, they asked for a few minutes to review our info privately.
When they called us back in, they said, "We normally don't do this, but we know your timeline and since new info has been brought to our attention, we are going to grant your clearance."
!!!!!!!!!!
Truly, it was a miracle of God. His timing is always perfect. All the delays had actually saved us the time and stress of having our records sent overseas and dealing with an appeal. It was terrible, but He worked it all out for us and we praise Him!
